Siver Family Restaurants History

John II’s passion for the restaurant industry began in his father’s tavern, The Sugar Bowl, an iconic spot in their upstate New York hometown. After living in Italy and falling in love with food and wine, he returned to Virginia, where his father, John Sr., joined him in restoring and opening Toliver House, a 145-year-old historic building. This father-son collaboration symbolized the passing of the torch, and soon after, John II collaborated on Fellini’s, blending family tradition with his own unique vision. Their shared journey celebrates a legacy of hospitality, hard work, and a deep love for bringing people together.

Outdoor Life

John was raised in an outdoor family, where hunting has been a cherished tradition and a source of camaraderie at his family’s Baldi Creek hunting lodge in the Tug Hill Plateau of upstate New York. His grandfather, Harry J. Siver, acquired the land in the 1940s and expanded it into a vast private hunting preserve. John continues to embrace this legacy, enjoying camping, four-wheeling, boating, and fishing adventures with his sons, Jack and Bennett.
